Gilad Atzmon: Rachel Corrie e il marchio della legalità kosher
La sentenza del giudice Oded Gershon, all’inizio di questa settimana, la quale dice che lo stato di Israele non è colpevole per la morte di Rachel Corrie, non è stata una sorpresa.
Infatti ribadisce tutto ciò che già sappiamo sullo stato ebraico – la sua politica, il sistema giuridico e lo spirito. Israele è sicuramente uno stato molto particolare – è impermeabile al pensiero etico e pensiero umanistico. Di conseguenza, il giudice Gershon ha dato questa settimana un timbro kosher a un omicidio a sangue freddo e, così facendo, ha dimostrato, ancora una volta, come le azioni criminali israeliane siano coerenti con le interpretazioni più vili del Vecchio Testamento e con l’odio talmudico per i goyim.
Come si poteva prevedere, il giudice Gershon, ha orientato il proprio legalitarismo e il contenzioso, in contrasto con il pensiero etico – affermando che in realtà la colpa fu di Corrie ‘per non essersi comportata ragionevolmente’.
Tuttavia, qualcuno si potrebbe chiedere che cosa si intenda per “ragionevolmente”, o, più precisamente, che cosa un israeliano intenda per “ragionevolezza”.
Rachel Corrie è stata schiaccata al suolo a morte da un escavatore D9 Caterpillar dell’esercito israeliano, il 16 marzo 2003. Ella faceva parte del ISM (International Solidarity Movement), un gruppo di attivisti pacifisti non-violenti filo-palestinesi. Essendo Corrie una giovane americana, erroneamente aveva creduto che i soldati israeliani fossero guidati da sentimenti umani. Essendo lei una persona ragionevole, deve aver creduto che un autista di bulldozer israeliano non avrebbe mai guidato il veicolo sul suo corpo. Si sbagliava. Corrie, chiaramente, non è riuscita a capire che in Israele la ‘ragionevolezza’ è letale alimentata da psicosi e fantasie di distruzione.
Corrie fallito proprio dove tanti altri attivisti per la solidarietà hanno fallito.
Israele non è Stato normale. Si tratta di uno stato per un solo popolo – e di un popolo che si crede di essere stato ‘scelto’. Il significato di tutto ciò è semplice e devastante. Il popolo di Israele crede che la propria vita e la propria sicurezza siano un bene cosmico che deve essere mantenuto a spese del resto dell’umanità. Tuttavia, non confondetevi: la psicosi israeliana è coerente ed è pure guidata dalla ragione, ma questa ‘ragione’ è un po ‘diversa da quella del resto di noi. E certamente è lungi dall’essere universale.
Rachel Corrie, d’altro lato, è un simbolo universale. Lei è la quintessenza della solidarietà, il pensiero empatico e il coraggio, ma la sua tragica morte è anche una chiara indicazione che c’è qualcosa di fondamentalmente sbagliato in Israele. La morte di Rachel Corrie rende chiaro che non sono solo la dirigenza israeliana o il comando militare ad essere ciechi nei confronti della vita umana e della condotta morale. Non sono solo Netanyahu o Barak ad avere disprezzo per la vita umana. Noi abbiamo qui a che fare con una continuitàomicida, che è data dalla leadership, dall’anonimo soldato, dal conducente di bulldozer – come anche dal giudice Gershon e dal sistema giudiziario israeliano.
Israele avrebbe potuto fare ricorso alle vie legali nei confronti della famiglia Corrie, per porre rimedio ai suoi metodi. Ma il giudice Gershon in realtà è stato abbastanza onesto da ammettere che l’assassinio di Rachel Corrie è stato la ‘cosa giusta da fare’. È stata colpa sua, che innanzitutto non sarebbe dovuta essere lì, ha sentenziato il giudice. Il giudice Gershon ci ha fornito questa settimana il vero significato di “ragionevolezza israeliana”. L’omicidio di Corrie era in linea con la filosofia della sopravvivenza di Israele e con l’interpretazione israeliana della sovranità ebraica. Questa settimana, il giudice Gershon ci ha lasciato con un timbro kosher su un omicidio a sangue freddo.

Judge Oded Gershon’s ruling earlier this week that the state of Israel is not to blame for the death of Rachel Corrie, came as no surprise. In fact it reaffirms everything we know about the Jewish state – its politics, legal system and spirit. Israel is surely a most peculiar state – it is impervious to ethical thinking and humanist thought. Accordingly, Judge Gershon gave this week a kosher stamp to a cold-blooded murder and by so doing, he proved, once again, that Israeli criminal actions are consistent with the most vile interpretations of Old Testament and Talmudic Goy-hating.
As one would predict, Judge Gershon, restricted himself to legalism and litigation as opposed to ethical thinking – he actually blamed Corrie for not ‘behaving reasonably’.
Yet, one may wonder what is this ‘reason’ or more precisely, what does an Israeli mean when he or she refers to ‘reason’.
Rachel Corrie was bulldozed to death by an Israeli military D9 Caterpillar on 16 March 2003. She was part of ISM (International Solidarity Movement), a non-violent pro-Palestinian peace activist group. Being an American youngster, Corrie mistakenly believed that Israeli soldiers were humanly driven. Being a reasonable person she must have believed that an Israeli bulldozer driver would never drive over her body. She was wrong. Corrie clearly failed to grasp that Israeli ‘reasoning’ was lethally fuelled by psychosis and fantasies of destruction.
Corrie failed precisely where so many solidarity activists fail. Israel is no normal state. It is a state of one people only – and a people who believe themselves to be chosen. The meaning of this is both simple and devastating. The people of Israel believe that their lives and security is a cosmic asset that must be maintained at the expense of the rest of humanity. However, make no mistake, Israeli psychosis is consistent and even driven by reason, but this ‘reason’ is somewhat different to that of the rest of us. It is certainly far from being universal.
Rachel Corrie, on the other hand, is a universal symbol. She is the epitome of solidarity, empathic thinking and courage, but her tragic death is also a clear indication that something is fundamentally wrong with Israel. Rachel Corrie’s death makes it clear that it isn’t just the Israeli leadership or military elite who are blind to human life and moral conduct. It isn’t just Netanyahu or Barak who are in a state of dismissal of human life. We are dealing here with a murderous continuum; it is the leadership, the anonymous soldier, the bulldozer driver – and also Judge Gershon and the Israeli legal system.
Israel could have used Corrie’s family legal appeal to mend its ways. But Judge Gershon was actually honest enough to admit that the murder of Rachel Corrie was the ‘right thing to do’. It was her fault, she shouldn’t have been there in the first place, he said. Judge Gershon provided us this week with the true meaning of ‘Israeli reasoning’. The murder of Corrie was consistent with Israeli survival philosophy and with Israeli interpretation of Jewish statehood. This week, Judge Gershon left us with a kosher stamp for a cold-blooded murder.
